About Jane
'I am a self-taught artist, with an extensive background in illustration working for major clients such as Hay House, Macmillan and The National Gallery. I now bring those skills to my work in oils on canvas, which is my favourite medium and one I continue to experiment with.
I love to create pieces that tell a story, or which inspire the viewer to invent one. I draw ideas from the natural environment, folklore and legend, and I have a deep interest in neuroaesthetics and the role art plays in our mental wellbeing. These are the main elements that feed the roots of my artist practise. Art soothes, heals, inspires and uplifts us, (both artist and viewer) and I feel the creative process in itself becomes a spiritual practise too when this is recognised.'
Jane is a member of the Scottish Artists Union and the Society of Scottish Artists.
