I have been painting and drawing since I could hold a pencil, and for many years I worked as a professional illustrator for mainstream publishing, but am now doing far more of the thing I love best - painting in oils on canvas. Although that’s still illustration of course – as essentially that is what art exists to do – to enhance and express all the ideas and thoughts and visions of humanity, and their deeper meanings, at whatever level of ‘deep’ one wishes to visit…
Most of what I do nowadays is what's termed 'inspirational' or 'energy' art. To me, this means art with a greater focus on the healing aspect; using images and colours that touch us at a deeper level, so that the simple presence of the painting on a wall provides a continuous gentle reminder to lift the mind and heart. I deal with a broad range of subject matter although I am naturally drawn to the spiritual and magical. But I also love the natural world, and since we live in a very beautiful corner of the planet here in Argyll, Scotland, I'm not short of inspiration or choice! So I am equally happy with a commission to paint an otter or a request to paint a fairy or an angel. Recently there have been rather a lot of angels of course, as I was commissioned in 2019 to paint Diana Cooper’s new Archangel set for Hay House. You can see these along with a more eclectic range of my work, on the pages of this website, which I hope you will enjoy exploring.
I’m currently working on a new deck for Amanda Ellis, due for publication by Schiffer, and hope to be available again for commissions by the summer. In the meantime I have prints available, and there are still a number of the original Archangels (in oils on canvas) here in my studio too, so if you are looking for a collector’s item do get in touch!
